EV Infrastructure Graphic
As Georgia approaches the forefront of green transportation, legislation has been enacted to prepare for a wave of electric vehicles and their accompanying charging networks. With the unanimous agreement in both chambers of the state's General Assembly, lawmakers are setting up legal infrastructure to facilitate success as EVs take over our roads. Through this forward-thinking initiative, we'll soon leave behind an era powered by internal combustion engines - paving the way toward a bright future propelled by clean energy sources. On the same day, Georgia House Bill 406 and a Georgia Senate EV bill passed through the Regulated Industries Committee, proposed to abolish charging electric vehicles based on time spent. In its place, vehicle owners will be charged kilowatt-hour rates instead. With an increasing number of Georgians switching to electric vehicles, the state's Department of Transportation is facing a significant hit to their gas tax revenue. This has inspired crucial legislation in both Georgia House and Senate bills that could help offset this drastic decrease. By doing so, they will be able to continue building and maintaining roads and bridges for years to come. For more information, visit the links provided below.
